Reasons to Consider Invisalign

People are normally self-conscious about their looks. If there’s a pimple in the middle of their forehead they imagine that’s the first thing people will notice about them; and let’s be honest, it probably is. A bad hair day causes concern as well as a rip in a shirt.
We do tend to worry an awful lot about our appearance. Now, if you’re concerned about first impressions, can you imagine what it would be like to be an adult with crooked teeth and hear your dentist say, “I think you should get braces.” It’s hard to imagine a worse fate.
The Stigma of Braces
Remember back in grade school? There was always someone who had braces and was called “Tinsel Teeth” or “Metal Mouth” instead of their real name. These people where most likely classified as losers as well.
Sure as an adult you probably wouldn’t be called those names right to your face but you would always be thinking those around you were thinking it. Deciding to get braces as an adult is a difficult decision because of the stigma that goes along with them.
What are your Choices?
Luckily, as an adult, you have a few options. Yes, those old metal braces are still out there. The good thing about them now is you could pick different colored bands to coordinate with your favorite tie or whatever holiday is coming up.
There are kids who get red bands at Valentine’s Day; red, white and blue around the 4th of July and red and green for Christmas. If this is making you cringe, you might want to consider Invisalign.
How does Invisalign work?
Invisalign is a series of clear trays that you will move through as your teeth straighten. These trays are made to slowly move your teeth into the correct position. As with regular metal braces, when your teeth straighten to a certain degree, they are adjusted again. Meaning, if you use Invisalign, you will be fitted with another tray for the next stage of straightening.
What are the Advantages of Invisalign?
Unlike metal braces, the Invisalign braces are clear. There is no metal covering your teeth to make you self-conscious. There is also no metal to cause sores in your mouth where the metal may rub against gums or cheeks. There will be no food getting caught in metal on your teeth and they make brushing your teeth no problem.
Braces are difficult to brush around but Invisalign braces are taken out, your teeth get brushed and you put them right back on. But don’t confuse Invisalign with a tray that you might use for whitening your teeth.
The trays are not big and bulky. They fit so well that they are almost impossible to detect. Only those who you let in on the secret will know.
Can you imagine wanting that perfect smile without having to go through the embarrassment of metal braces? For those who need to project a professional image, these braces can make all the difference.
You could attend your class reunion without anyone being the wiser. Getting married? No problem. You can smile as much as you want. There will be no metal ruining those cherished pictures.
What are you waiting for?
If you have crooked teeth or teeth that are unevenly spaced, don’t ignore them. Leaving your teeth like this will only cause more problems as you age. With the Invisalign braces there really is no reason to delay taking care of this problem right away.
